The March of Life: Memorial and reconciliation marches at historic locations of the Holocaust in Europe. Descendants of Nazi perpetrators finding words their fathers and grandfathers couldn´t find. A clear symbol for Israel and against modern anti-Semitism.
Grandchildren of Nazis together with Holocaust survivors and their descendants have begun a symbolic week-long march across Poland through the sites of former Nazi death camps.
At the start of the march a young woman gave an emotional address asking for forgiveness for her grandfather, an electrician who wired the gas chambers at Auschwitz.
Although the church organisers have staged commemorative death camp marches before, this is their first to include family members of camp survivors.
The march will take in several death camps ending Friday at Treblinka north of the Polish capital, Warsaw. The organisers hope to send out a strong message condemning anti-Semitism, past and present.
